Gulfport Town Shores Women’s Club
GTSWC is an organization for the women of Gulfport and Town Shores. The club has been here since the 1960’s. Our goal is to be a part of helping the children and elderly in the Gulfport area. We meet 6 times a year (on the second Wednesday of each month) from November to April. We support a major fund raiser every year to provide funds for helping.
We also share in social meetings and have a speaker from groups in the area who are dedicated to helping people. Meetings are usually luncheons with a public speaker speaking on a variety of subjects ranging from health issues to area agencies. In 2015-2016 speakers came from:
Suncoast Chapter of Service Dogs
Clothes to Kids
City of Gulfport Recreation Division
We provided funds for children to go to camp at the Gulfport Recreation center, books for Gulfport Elementary, clothes and monetary gifts to provide clothing through the Clothes to Kids program, funds for 2 children to have surgery through Operation Smiles, cereal for the Tampa Bay program for Cereal for Children for the summer, provided tabs for Shrine’s Hospital, crocheted shawls for those with cancer and knitted caps and booties for newborn babies.
Membership is open to any woman. Currently, there is a $25 membership fee. Members are bright articulate women, mostly retirees, who like to volunteer in many capacities and enjoy the camaraderie of women together.
